What is a Psychological-Spiritual Retreat?

Our Psychological-Spiritual Retreats are based on integrating spiritual awareness with psychological understanding to create harmony in relationships and higher level of satisfaction in daily life.

Retreat participants are offered opportunities, through a multitude of experiential activities in peaceful natural settings, to reexamine and detach from personality patterns, introducing the possibility of readjusting one’s life direction and deepening one’s spiritual connection.

On the spiritual level, we believe that the accumulated impressions we bring from childhood as well as from previous lifetimes get expressed through personality patterns. On the psychological level, we witness how these patterns determine our decisions and responses to events occurring beyond our control. Conversely, our decisions and responses define the current situation of our life.

What methodologies are utilized at the Retreat?

Voice Dialogue Facilitations Talk Therapy Dream Interpretation
Hypnotherapy Meditation Energy Clearing
Writing Silence Art
Music Psychodrama Dance/Movement
Spiral Walk Gong Bath Awareness Release Technique

Who is the Retreat for?

All participants are expected to already have done or be involved in some form of inner work. At least one private meeting with Yolanda Koumidou is required before being accepted into any Retreat.

What to expect from the Retreat?

Participants’ testimonies based on personal and direct experience from the Retreats answer this question best.

R. E. S. T.℠ Group Retreats

R. E. S. T. ℠ Revitalizing Energetically Stressed Types

The main intents for our retreats are:

To awaken the spirit and the parts of ourselves which offer inspiration, leading to Inner Peace.

To shed worry, stress and anxiety from daily life through understanding their universal cause and master ways of re directing their energy.

Each participant arrives carrying their life story, habit patterns and repetitive themes of stress. Due to the small size of the groups, maximum 8 people, everyone receives individual attention and has a chance for deep self exploration creating fundamental and lasting inner shifts.

For the last fifteen years the retreats are conducted outdoors in our 70-acre retreat space surrounded by woods, valleys and creeks in absolute privacy. Finally there is scientific proof of nature’s amazing and profound affect on human functioning. (see Time Magazine article, July 25th, 2016 entitled, The Healing Power of Nature)

All presentations by Yolanda Koumidou are based on integrated psychological and spiritual principals from her 30 plus years of personal and professional journey. The programs consist of Yolanda’s sharing, dialogues, experiential activities including but not limited to Voice Dialogue facilitations, walking the Labyrinth, dancing around the bonfire festivities, meditation and chanting and lighting the Dhuni, play and free time for relaxation.

Nobody leaves the retreat the same. Attending one of our weekend retreats is equivalent to six months of intense individual therapy!

Please refer to our participants’ testimonials for description of the affect the retreats have on them.

The Koumidou Outdoor Retreat Center in Upstate New York

All our programs are conducted outdoors. There has now been scientific evidence from research in Japan showing that spending time in nature contributes in specific health benefits. They sight that quiet atmosphere, beautiful scenery, pleasant aromas and fresh, clean air in forests induces a state of physiologic relaxation. Studies have linked relief of symptoms connected to heart disease, depression, cancer, anxiety and attention disorders to people walking through or staying overnight in forests. Spending time in the woods, can lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which is involved in the function of the immune system and blood pressure and when inhaling the aromatic compounds emitted by trees and plants called phytoncides, there are biological changes similar to aromatherapy. Furthermore, changes were also noted in the blood associated with protection against cancer, better immunity and lower blood pressure. (information adopted from article in Time Magazine, July 25th, 2016, entitled, The Healing Power of Nature).
